VoiceThread

I have spent the last few days exploring VoiceThread, a newish collaborative tool for recording voice with photos and inviting oral comments from others.

VoiceThread

To support and record my own use of Voicethread I have made a new post on my tech blog Bling4yrblog along with an actual Voicethread. It takes you through step-by-step how to create a VoiceThread. VoicceThread has lots of possibilities and I look forward to using it in my class next term.

Here is my first effort with Voicethread.

Thank you John Pearce for your expertise in embedding VoiceThread in Edublogs. You are a star.

Of course you are presently reading the blog of one of the biggest clutzes known to man! You need to make sure your Voicethread is public otherwise you will be the only one on the planet that can see it!!!!! Thanks Paul and Steve from Voicethread himself for your feedback.

  1. Hi Allanah,

You can actually embed a Voicethread in an edublog. This is the code that you need to use [kml_flashembed movie=”http://voicethread.com/book.swf?b=WXXY” width=”400″ height=”300″ wmode=”transparent” /], where the WXXY is the identifier of the VoiceThread. That is if you copy the URL of the original VoiceThread and insert it into this code string between the parentheses in your edublog post, the VoiceThread should show.

    Cheers John P

  2. Hi Allanah,

Whoops the code actually put a blank VoiceThread in, WOW :). Okay so here is the code again

    kml_flashembed movie=”http://voicethread.com/book.swf?b=WXYZ” width=”400″ height=”300″ wmode=”transparent” /

You need to put a square bracket [ at each end of the code eg [the code string]

    Oh how embarrasmentalling…..

    Cheers
JohnP, (let’s see how this one goes ๐Ÿ™‚ )

  3. Hi Allanah – I can’t wait to view your voicethread -sadly it is not public so it will not give permission to view !!!!! you need to go to the settings for the voicethread and allow public access or e-mail access to friends !!!

  4. Ok I see now that was a silly question as you have wonderful instructions written on your other blog. I have been using windows photostory alot to do the voice over/photo thing, but this is the next level and also is online which means no saving issues.. great idea.

  5. Hi Allanah, have been playing around with voicethread too and set one up for the cluster to reflect on. I was able to embed it in our wiki. Looking forward to seeing what some of the enhancements are…very easy to use…thanks for sharing your explorations ๐Ÿ˜‰
