Kids Can Make You Cry!

Only one week of my 2008 employment to go and on my last official visit to Riwaka School the kids sat me down to watch a video they had made entirely by themselves over the last week and then presented me with a stunning bunch of flowers. This year has passed by in a whirlwind and I have loved every minute of it- the kids, the opportunities, the connections, the freedom, the learning, the people, the friendships.

  1. I think the biggest thank you goes to you, who continuously shares yourself with you PLN and makes time to help each and every one of us who asks a question, is stuck or just needs a bit of support. Thank you Allanah – you have been a big influence to me in the short time I have been lucky enough to have met you! πŸ™‚ Amanda

  2. What a rewarding end to an amazing year for you. I know how amazing it has been for you to step out of the classroom and work with teachers this year. You have passed on so much confidence and no doubt inspired many teachers and students throughout the region this year. Well done for making the most of your opportunity and for sharing all you know so freely.

PS – I loved the Riwaka video; it was very authentic and sweet!!

  3. That is fabulus – and so well deserved! And I agree with you that no tributes can quite match the ones made by the kids. Enjoy the end of year festivities and all the best as you return to your own clss invigorated πŸ™‚

  4. Wow! Has it really been a year already? It seems like only a short while ago that you were preparing for this year’s big adventure. I have to totally second everything Amanda said. You are such an amazing lady, and so willing to share all your learning and ideas with the rest of us. I just know that the schools and teachers you have visited and worked with this year will all be richer from having you to support and encourage them along their e-learning journey – I know I certainly have.

    Merry Christmas girl!!

Love from Jaimee, baby and I.

  6. Having followed your year from here in the UK I just know that so, so many people will have benefited from your passion for learning, teaching and children.

I just sense another door somewhere opening … perhaps you should buy a newspaper !!

  7. You’ve obviously made a huge impact on people Alanah – both teachers & students. Wishing you a happy return to the classroom.

  8. What a wonderful film, a real tribute to you and the way you inspired the children and staff in the school.

It wouldn’t have happened without your hard work, dedication and enthusiasm, which also shines through your personal learning network.

Hang on to everything you have succeeded in doing over the last year

Thanks for posting a comment on my blog. If you can recall I met you briefly (as I had to dash away to prepare for my mum’s umveiling) at the Waimarino Conference last year during which time you mentioned your mum was unwell. My thoughts are with you. On a happier note – Congratulations on your appointment! You are a fine lady. Please keep me posted on your travels and learning experiences via twitter.
    All the very best
